Before thinking about backlinks or advanced strategy, it’s worth making sure the fundamentals of on-page SEO are in place. These are the things search engines look at directly on each page.
Title tags and meta descriptions
Each page should have a unique, descriptive title and meta description. These don’t just help search engines understand the page — they’re often what a person reads first in search results.
Heading structure
Using one clear H1 per page, followed by a logical order of H2s and H3s, helps both readers and search engines understand how a page is organized.
Image alt text
Descriptive alt text helps search engines understand what an image shows, and it also makes a website more accessible to people using screen readers.
Internal linking
Linking between related pages on a website — for example, from a blog post to a relevant service page — helps visitors navigate and helps search engines understand how pages relate to each other.
Page speed
Slow-loading pages tend to perform worse both in search rankings and in visitor experience. Optimizing images and reducing unnecessary scripts both help.
None of these steps guarantee a specific ranking, but skipping them makes it harder for a well-built website to be found at all.
